Tony was getting ready for his “check-up” again — the monthly inspection. He’d been stuck in Laura’s body for quite a while now, but she still insisted on checking in. Really, it wasn’t about him at all — it was about her body. She wanted to make sure he hadn’t done anything to it she wouldn’t approve of, even though they both knew she was never going to get it back.
Last time, she’d complained about his haircut and about the bruise on his knee. It was starting to annoy him. She even made him strip so she could confirm he hadn’t gotten any tattoos. The whole thing was getting ridiculous.
Still, he had to admit Laura had improved his old body a lot. It looked healthier than it ever had, and thanks to the strict diet she enforced, he hadn’t put on an ounce of weight. But this was his life now, his body — and he needed her to back off.
Over time, Laura’s inspections grew less frequent. And at his latest one, when he stripped, she didn’t even mention the tattoo he’d gotten. He’d changed a lot about her body, but she seemed distracted. Honestly, Tony was relieved. He just wanted to live life his way.
Laura’s reason for being less bothered was simple: she’d met someone. And it had changed everything. For the first time since the swap, she was more interested in building her new life than clinging to her old one. In fact, she’d made some very big changes to Tony’s life — bigger than anything he had ever done to hers.
Tony was happy with this as now he could start to live his life as Laura his own way.
